19 February 2019
#TrainingTuesday update from Stuart Kennedy, Official Marathon Coach for the 2019 Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon “Experiment 26.2 Group”
The weeks are flying in, it’s only 11 weeks to marathon Sunday. Let’s look at the best ways to keep yourself motivated to get the best out of your training.
1: Make running your new habit. Pick the days you are going to run at the start of each week & stick to those days.
2: Make a run date, arrange to meet someone for a run & you wouldn’t want to let them down.
3: If you are running early in the morning, leave your gear out from the night before so you are ready to run when you wake up.
4: Mix your training up a bit to stop it getting boring, do hill sessions, faster paced sessions and change the route of your long run every other week.
5: Keep a running diary, you wouldn’t want to miss a day when you have it written down. It’s always good to reflect on your training.
6: Ask your family to support you,get them to encourage you when you are feeling tired.
7: Remind yourself why you started this journey was it for yourself, a charity or someone special in your life. Think about the reason every time you lace up your shoes.
