Welcome back to the Deep RiverRock Belfast City Half Marathon Pacing team Graeme Colhoun
18 August 2019
Graeme Colhoun from Tyrone and a member of Dub Runners of Belfast will be pacing a sub 1.45 on Sunday 22nd September.
"I'm originally from a few miles outside a wee Tyrone village called Donemana. I now reside in South Belfast.
I started running in 2008, basically to get off the sofa and start taking accountability for my health. I shed 4 stone and really started to enjoy pushing my limits. I ran my first marathon (highly under trained) in Belfast in May 2008 – I loved every second of it. So far, I have ran 106 races of marathon distance or longer and have a PB of 2:58.
I've completed countless Half Marathons, my PB was in Omagh in 2011 where I ran 1:22.
I have paced 15 marathons and around 8 half marathons. I absolutely love the Deep RiverRock Belfast City Half Marathon. The support the event gets from both runners and spectators is phenomenal. Pacing can be a highly rewarding experience – helping people in some small way achieve a goal is a way better buzz than nailing your own race.
My key tips for your September Half Marathon...one thing that I think is really important is to not do anything different on race day as you would before any other run. Stick to what works for you and don’t be panicking about what works for this person or that person. Also, try to be organized and follow / stick to a training plan. This will build up your miles slower and is less likely to lead to injury.
Above everything else, enjoy the day and the Belfast City Half Marathon experience. Lets do this!!!!"
