Electrolyte Super Juice

During marathon training it is essential to consume a variety of electrolyte-rich fruits and vegetables on a regular basis. The combination of celery, spinach and pink grapefruit in this juice provide the perfect balance of electrolyte nutrients to support muscle performance and recovery during exercise. Celery is one of the richest dietary sources of potassium, with each stick providing around 100mg of potassium, while the spinach provides both calcium and magnesium. I’ve added pink grapefruit to this juice to cut through the earthy flavour of the vegetables and the juice of one grapefruit will provide your daily vitamin C requirements. Pink grapefruits contain a substance called lycopene (the substance that also gives tomatoes their red colour), which is believed to support recovery from intensive exercise.

Don’t worry if you don’t have a juicer you can make this juice by blending all the ingredients together and then passing the mixture through a fine mesh sieve.



1 Pink Grapefruit – skinned and cut into segments

4 Sticks Celery - chopped

1 large handful Spinach



Feed all ingredients through a juicer and consume straight away, or alternatively blend thoroughly in a blender or food processor and then pass through a fine sieve. Drink straight away.
