Training Tuesday Update from Stuart Kennedy 30 July
30 July 2019

#TrainingTuesday update from Stuart Kennedy Official Coach for the 2019 Deep RiverRock Belfast City Half Marathon and “Challenge 13.1” Team 🏃♀️🏃🏻
"8 weeks to go until you are standing at the start line of the Deep RiverRock Belfast City Half Marathon.
I hope your training has been going well over the Summer? If this is your first half marathon you may be up around 7 or 8 miles for your long run by the end of this week.
If you are finding your weekly runs difficult here are a few tips which might make them easier:
1: Run with a friend or family member. Talking during your run takes your mind off the time on your feet, making your run more enjoyable
2: Recover properly from your runs. Sleep, nutrition and hydration are key
3: Give yourself a days breaks between runs. If you do a long run on a Sunday, take a rest day or do something like Yoga or Pilates on the Monday (why not try Better Gym Belfast)
4: Write a plan and keep a diary of your runs, this will keep you focused and give you a sense of achievement when you tick your training days off
5: Enter a few shorter distance races to give you mini aims. These will keep you motivated, gain race day experience and will also help you reach your main aim of finishing a half marathon."
