PRE RACE DAY

 

CARB LOADING AND NUTRITION ADVICE FOR RACE DAY

MEDICAL ADVICE

It is ESSENTIAL you read the event medical instructions in full HERE as per the Official Marathon Doctor's advice.  If you feel unwell in any way or are injured, do NOT participate on Sunday!

 **IMPORTANT:  PLEASE COMPLETE YOUR EMERGENCY CONTACT DETAILS ON THE BACK OF YOUR RACE NUMBER AHEAD OF RACE DAY**

Please make yourself familiar with all the First Aid points along the ROUTE.

 

WEATHER

At present weather conditions could be a mixed bag for Sunday with light rain showers possible, temperatures are still expected to be reasonably warm around 16/17 degrees.  Keep an eye on the forecast and prepare.  If cold, pack a jumper/fleece to wear on race morning.  There will be a bag drop facility in Ormeau Park (close to the Ozone Centre) should you wish to leave any items (see below).

 

TRAVEL / PARKING

Plan ahead with your travel for race day.  There are lots of parking options (some free) available should you wish to car share.  Click HERE for details.

Translink is advising passengers to expect bus service diversions and suspensions across Belfast due to the road closures in place this Sunday.  Full details HERE

 

TRAFFIC DISRUPTION

Road closures will be in place across the city on Sunday 22nd September.  Please bear this in mind as you plan your travel and let friends and family know who make not be taking part but need to travel.  Full details can be found HERE.

 

ON RACE DAY SUNDAY

 

BAG DROP FACILITY

There will be a bag drop facility in Ormeau Park close to the Ozone Tennis Centre.  

Please attach your bag tag (from your race bib) to your own bag.  A small rucksack is advisable.  Bags must be dropped off no later than 8.40am in Ormeau Park.  **Please do not leave any valuables in your bag as we cannot be held liable for any items lost or damaged.

 

BIG SCREEN LIVE ON RACE DAY

Follow the event on Facebook (Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon) on Sunday 22nd September from approx 10am when there will be live streaming from the Big Screen in Ormeau Park!  Tell family & friends your predicted finish time so they can look out for you! The video will be available to watch after the event on YouTube & Facebook.

 

RACE DAY ACTIVITIES IN ORMEAU PARK

Family, friends and runners are very welcome to the Sponsor and Charity Village area of Ormeau Park between 8am – 12noon.  Here’s what you can expect on the day.  Details HERE.

 

SHOWERS AND TOILETS

Toilets will be available along the route and in the Ormeau Park finish area.  Click on Map HERE for locations.  Shower facilities will be accessible at the side of the Ozone Tennis Centre building in Ormeau Park however there will be limited availability.

 

HYDRATION AND ENERGY POINTS

There are 4 water stations (330ml Deep RiverRock 100% recycled bottles) located approx at miles 5 (Albertbridge Road), 8 (Sydenham Road), 10 (Falls Road), 11.5 (Dublin Road).  Also two High 5 Energy gel stations at approx miles 9 & 12, two PowerAde energy drinks stations (served in 100% compostable cups) at approx miles 8 & 11 along the half marathon route.  New this year – a Jelly Bean station from SPAR outside their Grosvenor Road store around mile 11 and a SPAR oranges station at the Ormeau Park finish area,

 

HEADPHONES

In ear headphones are not permitted

 

3 HOUR EVENT

This event must be completed inside 3 hours due to road closures and re-opening times in place.  Should anyone become injured along the route and feel they cannot complete the event inside 3 hours on the day, there will be a bus available to return them to Ormeau Park.

 

CHECK YOU HAVE YOUR RACE PACK

There will be NO race numbers available on race day!  Please check NOW that you have your race number stored somewhere safe.
