Primary Schools active and arty to WIN with Belfast City Marathon Tayto Translink and Better

Now December has arrived and Christmas is officially just around the corner, why not fill those stockings with pencils, crayons and paint brushes! It’s time to get creative with the Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon!
The organisers of the event are offering all children aged 4-12 years across Northern Ireland the opportunity to enter the 2019 Fun Run Art Competition. Full details HERE.
The Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon is delighted to confirm exciting changes for their Fun Run event on Sunday 5th May 2019. For the first time ever, all Fun Run finishers will be awarded a medal, in addition to a finisher t-shirt and goodie bag.
The event will start and finish at Ormeau Park and the flat route will be approximately 2.5 miles long, suitable for all abilities.
With over 1,000 people expected to participate in the Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon “Fun Run” on Sunday 5th May, we are inviting Primary School pupils to design Fun Run artwork which will be displayed on the Big Screen at the finish area in Ormeau Park to an audience of 40,000+ runners and spectators.
The artwork must feature;
- Hashtag “#ChooseBelfast”
- Runners and Landmarks of Belfast
- Translink Bus, Tayto Crisps, Bottles of water
- Strapline from Better “More people, more active, more often”
- Elements of fun and enjoyment
- A4 LANDSCAPE Page in Colour
Stephen Burns, Event Manager with Belfast City Marathon is delighted to launch the Primary School competition with event sponsors Translink, Tayto and Better, who are providing fantastic prizes for the winners;
“This competitive event is designed to encourage people to start training and lead a healthy lifestyle through exercise and diet. We are delighted that this competition can help promote and raise awareness of health and fitness with our young people.”
Three designs will be selected by a panel of judges then these will be shared on the Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon social media pages and partner website Belfast Live for the public to vote their favourite.
The design which receives the most votes will come in first place and will win the following;
- Assist with starting the Fun Run on Sunday 5th May at Ormeau Park
- Class trip to Tayto Castle with Translink sponsoring their transport for 30 people*
- Family Swim Passes for class of 30 pupils*, sponsored by Better Olympia Leisure Centre and Spa
- Receive 5 free Fun Run entries for friends and family

And for the two runners up? They’ll receive five free Fun Run entries each and Tayto for their class!
