Important information regarding Primark Building and impact on the Half Marathon route
18 September 2018
Tuesday 18th September UPDATE
Stephen Burns (Event Manager, Belfast City Marathon) confirmed:
“Following fire damage to the Primark Building in Belfast we have had to review the impact of road closures and cordon points. The Belfast City Marathon management team along with the PSNI and our traffic management company have identified a Continency Route that enables only a minor change to the route of the half marathon. As runners enter Chichester Street from Arthur Street they will continue up Chichester Street into Wellington Place and turn right into Queen Street where they will re-join the route. This additional distance is minimal and will not have a detrimental effect on the overall distance to the route. The change will be clearly identified using event stewards and traffic cones to ensure runners are directed along the new section and back onto the original route.”
UPDATE with reference to "additional distance"
"The route will be amended at the start area to take the contingency route into consideration and ensure the route is still 13.1 miles"
