Entries are now open for the Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon Virtual 5K Relay event. During the month of September, children, parents, teachers, and other members of the public should come together to pass the baton “virtually” through exercise.

Check out SPAR NI Facebook and Instagram where your children can print off the template to design their very own number bib to cut out and wear loud and proud during their relay. Let their imaginations run wild and get busy with crayons, colouring pencils and felt tips to show their favourite colours, styles and patterns. Share their creations on Facebook and Instagram tagging @sparnorthernireland.

Ts and Cs apply. The competition will open on the 05/09/2020 and close at 11:50pm on 20/09/2020. The winning entry (and one reserve) will be randomly selected from all eligible entries no later than 4 days after the competition closing date. The winner will be notified by Facebook/Instagram message. The winning entry must comply with all Ts and Cs. Full Ts and Cs which can be found on the SPAR NI Facebook.)

Event Manager, Claire O’Neill highlighted; “Relaying 5k throughout the month of September is an achievable challenge; whether completing this in one session or over a course of days or weeks, it is something to keep us motivated physically and mentally. We are delighted to work with official sponsor SPAR NI to add a further element of fun to this event. We look forward to seeing all of your children’s wonderful designs.”

Bronagh Luke, Head of Corporate Marketing at Henderson Group says: “With most schools not able to offer PE due to restrictions, it is important children have an outlet where they can get physical exercise, so we’re excited to partner with The Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon on this fantastic initiative.

“Not only are we encouraging good physical and mental health by getting out and completing the virtual 5k, but we hope to see lots of creativity with our colouring in competition, and of course inject some colour into autumnal days with the children’s designs. We’ll be sharing our favourites on Facebook and Instagram and can’t wait to be tagged in all the creations!”

Belfast City Marathon Ltd would like to encourage all participants to continue with their donations to official charity partner Cancer Focus Northern Ireland.  Every penny is vital for supporting their services at this incredibly difficult time.
