Here are some key questions you may ask us about the Marathon event, accompanied by our race information and rules.
Can I take part in the race with a pushchair, dog or wheeled device?
No participant may bring dogs, baby joggers, baby strollers, skateboards, rollerblades, hand cycles, unauthorised bicycles or any other wheeled device on the course, except for hand propelled wheelchairs in the mass race (wheelchair participants must contact the organiser in advance). Due to the competitive nature of our event with the inclusion of thousands of relay team runners, it would not be a safe environment for the inclusion of baby joggers and strollers, especially at the crowded relay changeover points.
Can I run with headphones?
In ear headphones are not permitted. Bone conducting headphones such as Aftershokz are allowed. Please see the Athletics Northern Ireland rule on in-ear or over the ear headphones as of 1st January 2018.
Do I need to complete the race in a given time?
Yes participants must complete the Marathon race or Team Relay within 6 hours. If you feel you may not be able to finish in this time, please consider our full range of race day options to suit all levels of fitness. We also host an 8 Mile Walk and a Fun Run option. If you have any queries on this, please contact us at email@example.com
Can I walk the 26.2 miles main marathon event?
No, the main marathon race is a competitive event and must be completed in under 6 hours.
Can I cancel my entry?
Belfast City Marathon Ltd operates a strict non refund policy. You may defer your race entry to 2020, only if you have incurred an injury and can provide a medical note from your GP or Physio. Medical notes must be provided to the Marathon Office no later than Friday 26th April 2019.
What is the difference between an Affiliated runner and non Affiliated runner?
If you hold a valid Athletics membership in the UK and Ireland, you are eligible for a discount and can register this event as an Affiliated runner.
Is the marathon race AIMS certified?
The 2019 Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon 26.2 miles course is AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races) certified.
