The Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon brings so many positive benefits to the city. It encourages participants to be more active and promotes the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and with the race itself the relay, fun run and 8 mile walk, there really is something for everyone.
The same can be said for SPAR. We’re passionate about encouraging our shoppers, retailers and employees to eat healthy and enjoy regular exercise. We have a dedicated team who create healthy, tasty recipes using the freshest, local ingredients. Whether you’re a fitness fanatic or just beginning to train for the big event, our ‘meal inspiration’ and ‘enjoy local’ ranges offer quick, healthy meal solutions to complement your training regime.
With over 290 stores across Northern Ireland, SPAR is committed to bringing communities together and creating enjoyable, family experiences. There is a huge feelgood factor surrounding the Belfast City Marathon and it’s encouraging to see runners from all walks of life come together, supporting one another as they make their way around the course. We know from sponsoring other running events such as the Omagh Half Marathon and the SPAR Craic 10K how much runners value extra encouragement on the day so we’re especially looking forward to providing refreshments and cheering participants on to reach the finish line.
It’s impossible to ignore the enormous contribution the Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon makes to local charities with runners raising much needed funds for worthy causes every year. This is another example of the synergy between our brand and the marathon. SPAR recognises the importance of giving back to our local communities and has raised more than £90,000 for our charity partner this year alone. We hope that many of our staff and retailers will use the marathon as a further fundraising opportunity for the local community and would encourage our generous customers to continue to support them as best they can.
SPAR is calling on as many people as possible to set themselves a target and sign up for the marathon. Whether you’re running your first mile or your 26th, SPAR will be with you every step of the way and looks forward to a brilliant day on May 3rd. Good luck with the training!
