Whether you decide to run, walk, wheel or relay, #MoveIt4Mencap and challenge yourself to help children and young people with a learning disability in Northern Ireland.

Why #MoveIt4Mencap?

By taking on a marathon challenge - you will make a huge difference to local people with a learning disability. And what better way of seeing that difference than by meeting some of the children and young people who attend the Mencap Children’s Centre in Belfast by visiting http://northernireland.mencap.org.uk/support-us/deep-riverrock-belfast-city-marathons

Currently, 41,7000 children and adults in Northern Ireland are living with a learning disability. Mencap provide support for children at the point of diagnosis right through to adult lifestyle support services in employment, housing, community inclusion and campaigning for rights. You can help us provide what they need by stepping up this year and taking on a marathon challenge.

In March 2016, Mencap opened a new, purpose built children and families' centre, with all of the facilities, support and information children and young people with a learning disability and their families need under one roof.

But building the Mencap Centre is just the beginning of what we need to do to help more people with a learning disability in Northern Ireland

#MoveIt4Mencap in 2018's Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon events and you will help...

  • Launch a new family support service for Northern Ireland, making sure that when any child is born with a learning disability, their family knows where to turn for information, advice and support
  • Support even more children with a learning disability through our early year's nursery service - giving more children a better start in life
  • Offer more community programmes to give families the support they need like after school clubs, summer play schemes and family away days
  • Increase the range of services we run in your local community to support children and young people with a learning disability and their families

#MoveIt4Mencap as every pound raised through your Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon Challenges will stay in Northern Ireland to help people with a learning disability to have brighter futures and fulfilling lives.

Just contact fundraising.ni@mencap.org.uk, we would be delighted to hear from you and help support you with your fundraising throughout your marathon challenge. We've got sponsorship forms, fundraising guides on how to get the best bang for your buck and your very own Mencap running vest - as a thank you for stepping for Mencap this year!
