Team Relay

Our Team Relay Event is very popular, with around 2,300 teams and 11,500 competitors taking part in 2010.

 

Route Information

The Team Relay Event follows the same route as the main Marathon Race, the Wheelchair Race and the Marathon Walk.

It begins at Belfast City Hall at 9am.

Entry Requirements

The event is open to teams of two to five people and teams can be all-male, all-female or mixed (combination of males and females).

 

Changeover Points

There are four team relay changeover points. They are located at;

  • Bridge End
  • Hillview Road
  • Gideon's Green
  • Corporation Street

 

The team relay is split into five parts. The following distances are approximate;

  • 6 miles
  • 3.5 miles
  • 7.1 miles
  • 5.3 miles
  • 4.3 miles

 

INFORMATION ON RELAY TRANSPORTATION

1. STAGE ‘A’ RUNNERS:  City Hall to Bridge End (6.0 miles)
It is your responsibility to be at the start line in front of City Hall in good time for the start at 9am.  Transport will not be available to the finish at Ormeau Park for return journey. Ormeau Park is a short walk from the changeover point. Please follow these directions:

Turn Right and walk straight ahead over Short Strand
Go straight on at junction with AlbertBridge Road
Proceed on up the Ravenhill Road
Turn Right onto Ormeau Embankment
Turn left into Tennis Arena

2. STAGE ‘B’ RUNNERS:  Bridge End to Hillview Road (3.5 miles)
Runners will make own way to Bridge End which is a short walk from Ormeau Park and is just across the Queen Elizabeth Bridge when heading from central Belfast.  Transport for return journey will collect at the Dunnes Store Car Park at Hillview Road. 

3. STAGE ‘C’ RUNNERS:  Hillview Road to Gideon’s Green (7.1 miles)
Transport to Hillview Road for Stage ‘C’ Runners will leave Ormeau Embankment 8.00 – 9.00am..  Transport will drop off at the Dunnes Store Car Park at Hillview Road.  Transport will be available for the return journey from Hazelbank Car Park.

4. STAGE  ‘D’ RUNNERS:  Gideon’s Green to Corporation Street (4.8 miles)
Transport to Gideon’s Green for Stage ‘D’ Runners will leave Ormeau Embankment 8.30 – 9.15am..  Transport will drop off  at the Hazelbank Car Park. Transport will be available for the return journey from Corporation Street.

5. STAGE ‘E’ RUNNERS:  Corporation Street  to the Finish at Ormeau Park  (4.8 miles)
Transport to Corporation Street for Stage ‘E’ Runners will leave Ormeau Embankment 9.30 – 10.30am..  Transport will drop off at Corporation Street.

TEAM  LEADERS

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR TEAM GETS TO ORMEAU EMBANKMENT ON TIME. THERE WILL BE NO PARKING EITHER ON THE EMBANKMENT OR IN ORMEAU PARK
TRANSPORT WILL LEAVE ONLY AT THE FOLLOWING TIMES
THESE TIMES WILL BE RIGIDLY APPLIED

8.00 AM – 9.00 AM – HILLVIEW  ROAD
8.30 AM – 9.15 AM – GIDEON’S GREEN
9.30 AM – 10.30 AM – CORPORATION STREET
