AER LINGUS SCOOPS PRIZE FOR BEST LOW FARE AIRLINE

26 October 2009 - 26 October 2009

Aer Lingus was named Northern Ireland’s ‘Best Low Fare Airline 2009’ at the 18th annual NI Travel and Tourism awards, held on Friday 16 October at the Slieve Donard Hotel, Newcastle.

The event was attended by over 400 VIPs from the local travel and tourism industry, and was hosted by TV personality Craig Doyle.

Aer Lingus beat off stiff competition from EasyJet, Jet2 and BMI Baby to take the coveted award voted for by travel agents at a ceremony organised by the Province’s travel newspaper, Northern Ireland Travel News.

Enda Corneille, Corporate Affairs Director at the airline said; “I am thrilled that Aer Lingus won the award for Northern Ireland’s best low fare airline. It’s a tremendous accolade.

“It is now just over two years since we announced our decision to open a Belfast base. We have flown over 1.1 million passengers in that time, showing that our low fares and quality service have proved a winning combination here in Northern Ireland.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the Northern Ireland public for their continued support, and to reconfirm our commitment to providing great value for money and choice of destinations from Belfast International Airport,” Mr Corneille added.
